Billions of NDIS funds lost to 'integrity leakage' last year, executive tells parliamentary hearing

NDIS executives have today been addressing a parliamentary inquiry into the scheme’s integrity.  The inquiry was set up after NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister requested a probe into the extend of fraud and non-compliance in the scheme.

The inquiry is expected to hand down a report on July 2.

Applications open for grants to improve the lives of people with disability

NDIS provider fined $675,000 after customer fatally injured during care

LiveBetter Services Limited has been fined $675,000 in the District Court of NSW as a result of a prosecution by SafeWork NSW.

The proceedings arise from an incident on 2 February 2022 in which a client of LiveBetter died as a result of injuries she sustained after being placed in hot bathwater whilst in the care of two disability support workers employed by LiveBetter.

Government to commit $3.7bn to strengthen aged care access

The government will invest $3.7 billion to increase the supply of residential aged care accommodation, accelerate the release of Support at Home packages and enhance the quality and affordability of aged care services.

In a direct response to the Residential Aged Care Accommodation Pricing Review, the Federal Budget announced it will aim to incentivise construction of up to 5000 aged care beds a year for aged care residents and protect equity of access for them.
